Ingredients:

  • 4 thick slices Sourdough or Texas Toast (approx. 1-inch thick)
  • 2 tbsp Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • 1 clove Garlic, halved
  • 1 tsp Dried Oregano
  • 1/2 tsp Dried Thyme
  • 1/2 cup Marinara or Pizza Sauce
  • 1.5 cups Shredded Low-Moisture Mozzarella
  • 1/4 cup Freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 tsp Red pepper flakes
  • 1/4 cup Fresh Basil leaves, chiffonade
  • 1 tbsp Fresh Parsley, finely chopped

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). In a small bowl, whisk the olive oil with the dried oregano and thyme to bloom the herbs.
  2. Place bread slices on a baking sheet and brush both sides lightly with the herb-infused oil. Toast for 3-4 minutes until edges turn golden and the surface is firm.
  3. Remove from oven and rub the cut side of the garlic clove over the toasted surface of each slice to infuse flavor.
  4. Spread 2 tablespoons of marinara sauce evenly over each slice, followed by a generous layer of mozzarella and parmesan cheese.
  5. Return to the oven under the broiler for 2-4 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and develops small brown charred spots.
  6. Garnish with fresh basil, parsley, and red pepper flakes before serving immediately.
