Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup Thai Tea Mix (approx. 40g)
  • 2 cups filtered water
  • 2 tbsp granulated white sugar
  • 2 tbsp sweetened condensed milk
  • 4 tbsp evaporated milk
  • 2 cups crushed ice

Instructions:

  1. Bring 2 cups of water to a rolling boil in a small saucepan. Remove from heat and stir in the 1/2 cup Thai Tea Mix. Let the mixture steep for exactly 5 minutes until it reaches a dark and opaque color.
  2. Strain the tea through a fine-mesh strainer or a traditional Thai tea 'sock' filter into a heat-proof pitcher.
  3. While the tea is still steaming, whisk in the 2 tbsp granulated white sugar and the 2 tbsp sweetened condensed milk until both are completely dissolved and the tea turns vibrant orange.
  4. Allow the tea mixture to cool to room temperature. For faster cooling, place the pitcher in an ice bath for 2 minutes, but do not dilute the tea with ice yet.
  5. Fill two tall glasses to the brim with 2 cups of crushed ice. Pour the cooled tea over the ice, leaving about an inch of space at the top.
  6. Gently pour 2 tbsp of evaporated milk over the top of each glass to create the signature creamy swirl. Watch for the white clouds to swirl.
