Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (200g) granulated white sugar
  • 1 cup (240ml) filtered water
  • 1/4 cup (30g) finely ground dark roast coffee
  • 1 tsp (5ml) pure vanilla extract
  • 1/8 tsp (0.75g) fine sea salt

Instructions:

  1. Combine the granulated sugar, filtered water, and ground coffee in your saucepan.
  2. Whisk over medium heat until the sugar dissolves and the liquid is clear. Note: This prevents grainy syrup later.
  3. Bring the mixture to a rolling boil.
  4. Immediately reduce heat to low and simmer for 10 minutes until the liquid thickens and turns a mahogany hue. Note: This is where the Coffee Syrup develops its depth.
  5. Stir the mixture occasionally to keep the grounds moving.
  6. Remove the pan from the heat.
  7. Stir in the vanilla extract and sea salt.
  8. Pour the mixture through a fine mesh strainer into a glass jar until all grounds are removed.
  9. Let the syrup cool for 10 minutes before sealing the lid.
