Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (200g) granulated white sugar
  • 1 cup (240ml) filtered water
  • 1 pinch (1g) fine sea salt
  • 2 tsp (10ml) pure vanilla extract

Instructions:

  1. Pour the granulated sugar, water, and salt into your saucepan. Note: Use a pot larger than the liquid to avoid boil overs.
  2. Stir the mixture over medium heat until the sugar crystals have completely vanished and the liquid is clear.
  3. Bring the liquid to a gentle rolling boil.
  4. Lower the heat to a simmer and cook 5–8 minutes until the texture shifts to a slightly syrupy, velvety consistency. This is the base for Flavored Coffee.
  5. Remove the pan from the heat immediately.
  6. Stir in the pure vanilla extract. Note: Adding this at the end prevents the flavor from evaporating.
  7. Set your fine mesh strainer over your glass jar.
  8. Pour the syrup through the strainer to remove any salt clumps or impurities.
  9. Let it cool for 10 minutes before sealing the lid.
