Ingredients:

  • 2 tbsp Unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 tbsp Granulated sugar
  • 1/4 tsp Baking powder
  • 1 pinch Fine sea salt
  • 1/4 cup Whole milk
  • 2 tbsp Neutral oil
  • 1/2 tsp Pure vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp Semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions:

  1. In a 12-ounce microwave-safe mug, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, and salt until no large cocoa clumps remain.
  2. Add the milk, oil, and vanilla extract. Whisk vigorously until the batter is glossy and smooth with no dry flour streaks at the bottom.
  3. Place the chocolate chips directly into the center of the batter. Do not stir; let them sit in the center to create the molten lava effect.
  4. Microwave on high for 60 seconds. The top should be set but slightly shiny. Allow to cool for 1 minute before serving to let the crumb structure stabilize.
