Ingredients:
- 2 cups (250g) all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup (150g) granulated sugar
- 2 tsp (10g) baking powder
- 1/2 tsp (3g) baking soda
- 1/2 tsp (3g) kosher salt
- 1 cup (240ml) whole milk
- 1/4 cup (60ml) melted unsalted butter
- 1 large egg
- 2 tbsp (30ml) pure maple syrup
- 1 tsp (5ml) vanilla extract
- 3 tbsp (30g) melted unsalted butter
- 1/4 cup (50g) brown sugar
- 1 tbsp (8g) ground cinnamon
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan thoroughly with butter or line it with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Create a well in the center of the dry ingredients and pour in the room-temperature milk, melted butter, egg, maple syrup, and vanilla extract. Whisk gently until just combined, stopping as soon as flour streaks disappear.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
- In a small ramekin, mix the remaining melted butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon into a paste. Spread the paste evenly over the raw batter.
- Bake for 40–45 minutes until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean and the top is mahogany-brown. Let the loaf cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
